When it comes to business headshots, not everyone wants a plain white background or a corporate office vibe, especially if you're in a creative field. For a recent branding photoshoot in Aberdeen, I had the pleasure of working with a local graphic designer who wanted something a little different: headshots with colour, personality, and a strong connection to the city.
We started the session in my home studio space, which offered a calm and comfortable setting to ease into the shoot. The space can be easily adapted to suit each brand, with neutral soft furnishings, natural light, and touches of greenery that add warmth without distraction. It gave us a clean, modern backdrop to capture a set of relaxed portraits before heading out into the city.
We then took to the streets, using the vibrant Nuart street art displays as our next location, and they didn’t disappoint. These incredible murals brought bold colour and texture to every image, giving us a unique and expressive backdrop for a set of business headshots that really stand out.
The goal was to create imagery that felt both professional and personal, the kind of brand photography that tells a story while remaining versatile enough for LinkedIn profiles, website bios, portfolio pages, and marketing materials. Each location gave us a new mood to work with: some shots were full of energy and movement, others more grounded and reflective.
For anyone looking to move beyond the standard studio portrait, the streets of Aberdeen, particularly around the Nuart installations, offer an inspiring alternative. They bring a creative edge to your personal brand, especially if you’re in design, marketing, or the wider creative industry.
Business headshots don’t need to be boring. With the right location and a photographer who understands your brand, they can be powerful, personality-driven visuals that help you stand out in your field.
